Wrexham

Wrexham is well provided for the coarse angler with lakes, ponds and the River Dee, which enters Wrexham from Flintshire at the east and can be fished as both coarse and game on over ten different beats. The river Alyn to the north of Wrexham is game only. On the banks of the River Dee, the Ty Mawr Country Park, in Cefn Mawr, offers some of the finest views in North Wales. Acton Lake provides the centre feature of Acton Park in the city of Wrexham. It was originally constructed using puddled clay in the 18th Century but during the 1970’s, the pond was drained and butyl lined. Fishing is popular on the lake with platforms provided for disabled anglers. (The lake is closed for fishing during the Wildfowl nesting period). A wetland area exists and supports a diverse range of wildlife.
