‘Croeso i Gymru’. Welcome to Wales. England greets Wales in Monmouthshire and a mixture of Welsh and English influences are evident in the historic towns of Chepstow, Monmouth, Abergavenny, Usk, and Caldicot.
Monmouthshire attracts walkers from all over Europe to its beautiful scenery and its cultural treasures, including Tintern Abbey and the time and battle-ravaged castles of the Welsh borderlands.
The Wye and Usk are two of Wales’ most famous salmon and trout rivers, yet Monmouthshire is full of rivers, lakes, and mountain streams where the fishing is excellent. The River Monnow, famous for its distinctive bridge in the historical town of Monmouth, can be fished as both Coarse and Game at various beats in and around Monmouth, as can the Wye and Usk on their
respective beats.
